The house voted today to hold hold former White House Counsel Harriet Miers and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten in Contempt of Congress for their refusal to answer subpoenas for documents and testimony issued in the probe into last year’s firing of U.S. Attorneys. Today’s legislation allows congress to bypass the Attorney General who has stated he won’t enforce contempt, and go directly to the courts.
Most Republicans walked out and refused to vote, calling the action a political stunt. 32 republicans voted against the resolution, but three Republicans voted for it: The right honorable Dr. Ron Paul, Jones of NC, and Gilchrest, whoever that is.
All house Democrats voted for the legislation, except for one weaselly turncoat, Cuellar. (Boo, Cuellar.)
