    Cool…

  2. Dave says:

I can’t understand how the elected politicians can continue to ‘play it safe’, politically. It’s unconscionable.

  3. Dave says:

How would that work, anyway? If Bush were impeached and convicted, Cheney is then president? If Cheney is impeached first, then what - Bush can appoint a Vice President? That might be a complicated dance.

Anyone know how that would work?

  4. Mr. Nibbles says:

    Inverse square law?
    Just a guess.

As much as I would love for it to come to impeachment, I’ve given up hope. Kucinich, Wexler, Conyers, and maybe a couple other congresscritters have had to backbone to make it happen all along, but it’s only recently that more than a handful of their colleagues would even tacitly, let alone openly, support it. So it’s a non-starter.

That’s unconscionable, and it represents one of the greatest failures our democracy can possibly experience. But what we’ve seen for months & years on the issue is a result of the ingrained culture of the institution of Congress (self-preservation, political strategizing, fear of Bush-Cheney and their third arm in the DoJ, etc.).

I’m happy that Kucinich is doing what he’s doing because this will all be read into the history of the early 2000s. The truth will (mostly) come out in various ways over the next 20 years, and the GWB administration will be rightly judged as one of the worst presidential periods in American history. But alas, that’s all we’re going to get.

  6. Dave says:

    But I DEMAND impeachment!

  7. Mr. Nibbles says:

Maybe Pelosi wants to smooth things over.
    You know: make “nice-nice.”
    Just a guess.

  8. Pete says:

    Pelosi has 1 boss, Israel.

Thanks for posting that edition of Countdown w/ Kieth Olberman, Dave. Boy, this gets my gourd too!
Pelosi sickens me. Harry Reid sickens me. Any Democratic Congressman who won’t get Kucinich’s back
sickens me! This is our only chance to let future generations know that Americans weren’t going to put
up with this shit any longer and that the Framers gave us tools to use to remove a bad President but
we (collectively) blew it. This is why I respected Kucinich from the start even though I knew he didn’t
have a chance at the Presidential race.
I agree with Justin in that we are not going to experience the deep satisfaction that an impeachment
would provide us. The Dems are going to ride this out and hope for an even bigger majority in both
houses in ‘08. Plus the Presidency. As much as I disagree with their strategy on principle.

Last week I read that Bush’s approval rating dipped to 25%. Jimmy Carter’s was once at 24%, probably
at the height of the Iranian hostage crisis. Nixon was also at 25%, probably during Watergate.
Both of these guys paid heavily, eventually, for this low rating. Nixon was forced to resign and Carter
lost in a landslide to Reagan.
It seems like such an extreme travesty of justice that W gets to retire to Crawford with no questions
    asked.

  10. Pete says:

I am really hoping that somehow this actually goes beyond impeachment. I seriously cannot grasp how our congress is such a bunch of paid off pussies. They approved the bill to go to the judiciary committee but it will probably just sit there next to the Cheney impeachment bill. GO DENNIS.

What I would love to see happen is that every motherfucker involved in this mess, including the media (FOX), go to international court and be tried for murder, war crimes etc and be made to pay. By that I mean both monetarily and lengthy prison terms if not execution. That is justice, not just impeachment, only to be pardoned by the next POTUS.

Given light of all the info about them REALLY lying us into a war I pray that other people in the world are paying attention.
