   Why do I get “undefined reference to gzputc”?
   If make test produces something like:

   example.o(.text+0×154): undefined reference to `gzputc’

   check that you don’t have old files libz.* in /usr/lib, /usr/local/lib or /usr/X11R6/lib. Remove any old versions, then do make install.

   1) A. Nothing “happened” to Pete; he was born that way.

   2) A. This is a frequently asked question with Zlib. You have provided the best reasonable answer following your question. Because you may have deprecated files in /usr/lib, /usr/local/lib or /usr/X11R6/lib, these may not be playing nice during the make. Remove any old versions, then do make test again.

   This should be considered to be filed as “Life-Hacks”. Remember the categories? I know, “Life” is just easier.
   That lefty loosey thing used to screw (no pun intended) me up because while my thumb on a screwdriver was turning rightward my pinky knuckle was turning to the left. Which part of my hand counted more?
   Then I tried to imagine a clock-face. Clockwise would tighten as long as you were looking directly at it.
   But if the bolt was on the opposite side the reverse was true.

   One time Dave and I helped Jennifer Lynds change her flat tire. Dave told her that he could see another problem. “There was a nut loose behind the wheel”, he said.
   She got it after a second and we all had a chuckle.

   No, I believe you have that confused with toilets that whirlpool the opposite direction upon flushing.
   And that is in the southern hemisphere of our planet.
   What do you think about Uranus?

   Can you imagine how horrible it would be if some “nair-do-well” put a turbo-charged, self-propelled, rocket -like device into the down-spout, whirl-poolian action of a flushing toilet just to see if it would result in a crack of the space-time continuum?
