Can you believe this ?

  1. Dave says:

    Co-sponsored by 11 democrats and 6 republicans:

Oct 23, 2007: This bill passed in the House of Representatives by roll call vote. The vote was held under a suspension of the rules to cut debate short and pass the bill, needing a two-thirds majority. The totals were 404 Ayes, 6 Nays, 22 Present/Not Voting.

    Consider:

Excerpt from “SEC. 899F. PROTECTING CIVIL RIGHTS AND CIVIL LIBERTIES WHILE PREVENTING IDEOLOGICALLY BASED VIOLENCE AND HOMEGROWN TERRORISM”:

SEC 899F: `(a) In General- The Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to prevent ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism as described herein shall not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, or civil liberties of United States citizens or lawful permanent residents.

This insane un-american bill is going to the Senate soon so it is important that we contact our senators.

  4. John says:

“(8) Any measure taken to prevent violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism in the United States should not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, or civil liberties of United States citizens or lawful permanent residents.”

One has to read this quote a few times to realize what it is trying to tell us. I admit I still don’t know yet. But at first glance wouldn’t one think that we already have laws to prevent this sort of stuff? And even if we do or don’t, we citizens of the U.S still have to let the KKK march down Main Street, Anywhere. So why now are the law-makers trying to redefine what constitutes the “scary terrist” words from above? After over 200 years are we in some ‘new’ kind of danger? Notice also how it states: “should not violate” instead of “will not violate”.
And “any measure taken”. That is the total WTF. Isn’t that a tad broad of a statement? Who decides? Political parties in control at any given time? Thomas Jefferson would have disagreed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_and_Sedition_Acts
Btw, I am am so sickened at the democratic congress for voting for this. I expected it from the republicans but you guys were right, they are the same damn thing.
